The studio

A serious craft, taught with warmth.

Ernesto Ebreu is a New York City native who has spent twenty years dancing, teaching, and performing. His work moves across American ballroom, Latin, house, Afro-Cuban, and hip-hop — a wide vocabulary grounded in the fundamentals of partner work.

In 2017 he took the helm of a dance studio in Queens, New York, and has been teaching ever since. Today his lessons bring that experience to Seattle: clear, personal instruction for people who want to feel at home in their own movement.

About the studio

Technique you can trust. A room that feels human.

Ernesto's teaching is specific without being rigid. He will show you the mechanics, find the correction that actually makes sense for your body, and then give you space to try it again. Nothing is performed for the sake of looking impressive.

VP Dance Academy is the collaboration between Ernesto Ebreu and Wealth City Agency, pairing two decades of instruction and choreography with the production and marketing craft of the agency. The work covers celebrations, performance, and the everyday confidence of walking onto a dance floor.

“Ernesto is an amazing choreographer! He helped us choreograph two dances — one for our destination wedding, a full three-minute number, and one for our reception. They are such a phenomenal team and both bring so much creativity and passion into their work. Both dances went over so well and our family and friends were very impressed by our new dance moves.”

“We had 8 lessons before our wedding and felt so at ease on the dance floor. We were both very nervous about our first dance and had very limited experience with partner dances. Ernesto listened to us, taught with grace and understanding, and met us at our level. Those lessons were our absolute favorite part of wedding planning!”
Claire C.8-lesson package
“It is clear he knows a lot of different dance styles, and his knowledge and creativity helped us put together our dance with ease. He gave us kind and helpful feedback to really perfect it and instilled confidence in us leading up to our big day. He also worked with us on a pretty short timeline of four weeks.”

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Everything you might want to know before your first lesson. If your question is not here, just ask.

All questions

Do I need any dance experience to start?

No. Most clients begin with little or no partner-dance experience. Lessons start from where you are, and the pace adjusts as you go. The complimentary 30-minute intro is a low-pressure way to meet, talk through your goals, and try a few basics.

What happens in a private lesson?

Private lessons are 60 minutes and designed around your goals. A typical session includes a warm-up or review, new material, and time to run things in context. You will leave with something specific to practise. For celebration choreography, later lessons shift toward styling, timing, and rehearsal.

How many lessons will I need?

It depends on the occasion, your timeline, and how much polish you want. Some couples feel ready after five lessons; others prefer eight, twelve, or more. The intro consultation is the best way to get an honest recommendation for your specific date and song.

Can we choose our own music?

Yes. Your song is usually the starting point. If you are undecided, we can talk through options that suit the style, the venue, and the way you want the moment to feel.

Where do lessons take place?

Lessons are arranged by appointment in Seattle. Share your preferred area and any location constraints in your enquiry, and the studio will confirm the exact arrangement with you before your first session.
